I invite members to share their knowledge and discuss the following:

1) Which Air Rifles & Pistols are preferable for competition shooting and why ?

2) What competition air rifles / pistols are available or can be arranged in Pakistan and an idea, if possible of their price ?

3) What events take place where beginner-level or amateur shooters can participate in Pakistan ?

4) Any other advice, which you feel would be useful for beginners who wish to learn and improve their Air Rifle / Pistol shooting basics and skills for competition shooting ?

While members take time to respond to above questions, here is a Competition Air Pistol from Baikal IZH

Baikal IZH-46M

Basic Info and Specs

Place of origin: Russia
Manufacturer: Izhevsk Mechanical Works
Variants: IZH-46 / IZH-46M

Weight: 2.86 lb.
Cartridge: Pellet
Caliber: .177
Action: Hinged Breech Action, pneumatic pump
Rate of fire: Single Shot
Muzzle velocity: 470 feet per second (140 m/s)
Sights: Open Micro Adjustable

About the Air Pistol

The Baikal IZH-46M is a competition-grade, single-shot pneumatic air gun, with a hammer-forged, rifled barrel. The gun is charged with a single stroke of an underlever cocking arm.

Unlike guns intended only for plinking, several features of competition guns such as the IZH-46M mark it as designed for high-precision shooting. For instance, the IZH-46M's rear sight can be adjusted for windage/elevation, and the trigger is adjustable for position, travel, and pull. The gun can also be dry-fired without charging. The ergonomic grip features an adjustable handrest.

The Baikal IZH-46M is the current production run of the original Baikal IZH-46. The only visible and mechanical difference is the IZH-46M is built with a slightly longer (0.5" or 12 mm +/-) air compression cylinder. As all other components except chamber length and piston stroke are the same, visually the original IZH-46 barrel appears to extend further beyond the air compression cylinder than the current IZH-46M. The extra length of the air compression cylinder allows the 46M to have a 60 ft/s (18 m/s) increase in muzzle velocity over the original 46. The IZH-46M has a muzzle velocity of approximately 470 ft/s (140 m/s). In either original IZH46 or current IZH46M form, the pistol is a very consistent shooting precision 10 m airgun.

Though more expensive than many commonly available airguns, the IZH-46M is inexpensive in comparison to many similarly featured competition guns.

This model is also sometimes referred to as MP46-M

Nice share. I am looking for this air pistol since long. It is known to be a accurate and very cheap competition air pistol. Many Russian shooter's have been using this air pistol during top level competitions. :)

Shariq bhai, so far not seen in Pakistan. But I don't think it would be a problem for the dealers to import. Price in US is $300-350 :)

yup, most competition guns have a sight radius in excess of 250 mm. Matters a lot :)

This is Hammerli AR20 Sivler match air rifle which Haider would own in few days. Has reached Karachi but has not been delivered yet. :|

Haider, you gave every information about the gun, even that which was not needed but forgot to write the name of the gun. Copy and paste and common sense must go side by side. But its good to see you making data oriented posts :)
