Russian Makarov is far better in all respect. You will have to search for chinese mak because there are not many pieces available. Owner will ask for a price of his choice due to its scarcity in Pakistan so nothing can be said about the price. Should be in the range of 25-40 K, depending upon the condition.

@Shariq
Sir, while going through the review again, I noticed that you mention that MP442 has adjustable rear sights. In the photo, they look like fixed sights. May be there is some adjustment screw which is not visible to me. Could you please clarify :)

Am I correct in assuming that the sight set of MP442 can not be replaced with better after market sights, like tritium sights??

442 rear sight is drift adjustable for windage only. It has to be tapped to move. No screws.
Couldn't find any night sights for it. I am afraid not available.

Thanks for the information Sir. Even if a tritium rear sight is available, it is of no use as the front site is fixed and can not be removed.

Bought this little beauty today from Fakhr e Alam. It is fine gun by all standards, loved its looks, feel and the firing.

Image

Just a couple of observations.
1. Its size is neither too small nor too big, just good enough to fit in one's hands. Solid metal.
2. The grip is really good, I really like holding this gun.
3. Finish is good, specially when you apply a little WD-40 , it shines real good. When I saw it in the shop it didn't impress me one bit.
4. The magazine is really hard, because its new. I made great efforts and could not load more than 7 rounds. Asked a friend to do it and he couldn't either. Perhaps it will get better with time.
5. Disassembling a new gun is easier than reassembling it. That takes some efforts and YouTube support.
6. Did not at all like its Instruction Manual, Baikal can do much better here. Dunno what's stopping them.
7. Overall a good handgun, in this price. :greetings-waveyellow:

I agree with you. Reassembly is tricky as sometimes, slide just glides into place and sometimes many attempts are required.

Zaheer bro, Viking MP446 was selling for 65 k here in Peshawar a few weeks back. Are you sure you are not confusing it with the Mak, or was it the original Mak PM? Orient traders in Lahore was ready to sell this gun to me for 42K. Still if its Mak for 65K I would say its highly priced. Well not possible.

Asking was 65k for 442 about two months ago. Now its down to 55k. Some dealers are still asking 65k.

congratulations six_shooter bro.
I agree with Shariq bro. This Makarov was being retailed at 60k+ last year by National Arms Lahore, and early parts of this year. It has come down now to some extent in northern arms market.

Made and edited a small video.. Initial sound may be a bit loud..

Hope this is the right place, as my video features only this handgun (not a review)

Hdaackda, may i ask you to make one more, more detailed video review about Baikal 442, please? I mean fieldstrip, opinion about its CC, target shooting at 10, 15 and 25 metres-how the POI match the point of hitting and etc. As far as i know Baikal is more accurate then CZ 83 (even Cz is with better finish), and more accurate then old Mak. Would be able to proof that? Thank you! Will expect your next review! All the best!
