So Mav is at twice the price of DSA Shooter. If my option was to buy a HD 12g weapon, and if I had to choose between these two at these market prices, I would go for the DSA Shooter. No reliability issue, don't care much about finishing as long as I get it at half the price. :) But then, that's me.

DSA pump is a clone of Maverick 88.

I think you're right. But for HD use, who needs slugs ?

#4 and #AAA work better in such situations. Increase the chances of hitting BG.

If using slugs in confines of a house then Ricochet will be a bigger problem than a bad guy IMO.

then we better use rubber buckshot if Ricochet matters a lot.
FYI,at least 12" penetration is must for any bullet or pellet to hit the vital organ.

It is my 'personal' view that the main purpose of using a shotgun for HD is to increase your chances of hitting the BG. Hence, the SG (9pellets), AAA (40 pellets) and # 4 are preferred because of their spread. If I wanted to shoot a single projectile at the BG at a time, I would do so with my 5 inch barrel 92 with which I practice every single week and I can hit the BG with decent accuracy with a few 124gr JHPs in a short time. My personal view ofcourse.

Keep in mind, any 12 gauge buckshot load's spread willnt more than ur first at HD distance.so,u suppose to aim well and practice well with ur HD shotgun.

Yes, that is the price here, 40-45k.
Which model do you have bobba bro? (barrel length, capacity)
Comparing the two, I think you need to see them both together to decide best. Overall finish is better for the Maverick, but other than that, the DSA is a very good clone of(or is based on) the Mossberg action. If it is 20k vs 40k, DSA wins in my view. @30k, I would want to have a maverick too.
Just for information, Maverick 88 costs between 160-180US$...

You are right Bobba. The spread at 10 yards would be around 9 to 10 inches.

Image

For distances upto 10 yards and within the house, I personally feel comfortable using a handgun with which I have regularly practiced and with which I am capable of hitting within an 8 inch radius in quick successive shots. For distances over that and especially in an inside-out (of the house) situation, I would prefer a shotgun.

The DSA shooter has been by far an large one of my favourite pumps.. In fact a dealer once advised me to go for it rather then the flashy local saiga 12 clones. Even though the clones were from his own factory!!

However as its price is increasing then the competition from the Turks ensures that one would not buy a DSA S with their eyes closed.

My personal choice would e to spend an extra 10-15K an get a Hatsan Escort MP A instead

Salaam to all,

I have a quick question, one of my very dear friend has this DSA shooter with him, this piece of him has a strange thing which is a little shocking to me, there is no Daudsons Armory written on it anywhere. The one i had some times back was DSA security and there was clearly mentioned the Armory name.

Can you please tell me is this a normal thing that they left it written on purpose?

Regards

@ Zaheer,

Bro, start a new thread in the shotguns section and take members' input on these shotguns. Many have used these and their input will be helpful to you in making an informed decision.

@ Jawad,

I do not have Daudsons Armory written on mine (Shooter) and mine was purchased 'right frm the factory'. :) So I guess they're not consistent with putting their name on all their products.

@SA: Oh dear thanks for the clarification.

I have one more silly question for you sir, I have a turkish pump action, Akkar karatay taktik 6+1 and is no doubt a beautiful looking gun and very smooth so far and a real eye candy, but my question is that what would u suggest, should I go for DSA shooter by selling it out (I have only one license for 12bore)?
Purpose of 12bore for me is HD/occasional pheasant hunting in jungle

Thanks in advance

Akkar Karatay Taktik is a decent shotgun and if you already have it, I would not suggest selling it and going for DSA Shooter.

Thanks a lot and the reason i asked this question that on some gora's guns forum, i read that the firing pin of this gun breaks up easily during competitions and one has to have a spare firing pin for it.

Anyways thanks bro!
