After reading so many posts for over three months (the forum rules specifically discourage posting before prolific reading and searching), this could well be called my first topic starter :handgestures-salute:

I couldn't find much about Akdal 1919 on these forums. So here is a simple question for senior members with any experience with the shotgun in question: is it a good enough/reliable piece for hd/hunting purposes?

I know it aint as good as Saiga or Vepr Molot. But then, i dont have money for either. I have had experience with a modified Saiga and i know it is pretty well built and quite reliable. But have none with Akdal. So any input will be greatly appreciated.

Also, i did come across a variant of Akdal at Orient arms a while back. I guess this exact clone was made by Alpha arms or something. Any thoughts on that?

:text-thankyouyellow:

Few people I know who own a 1919 have no complaints of reliability but they are not heavy shooters.
What will you be hunting with this mag fed shotgun?

@HMR

thank you for your quick reply. i'm not a regular hunter. but whenever i do, its usually wild boars. i dont hunt animals/birds who cant pose a threat. so was thinking of that.

If you can test fire few boxes of SG without any issues then you may consider it for wild boar hunts. Wild Boar is dangerous game BTW.

sorry but didnt exactly get the intended meaning of your last post... do you mean to say Akdal 1919 isnt very good with SGs? and shouldnt be considered for hunting purposes?

I meant to say that wild boar is a dangerous game and it would be better to test fire your gun with few boxes of SG to make sure it works well before you embark on a hunt. Nothing else.

@mitho

yeah bro i heard it jams on low recoil loads... but that could be fixed with some tweaking from a gun smith... no? :)

about hatsan escort, no doubt it is a great choice. but i just wanna go for a box fed 12 gauge this time around. have had semis pump feds before.

Brother, though it looks to me that you have already madeup your mind for Akdal, however, since you asked view, here is my opinion if it is of any worth.
Akdal 1919 could be an HD / SD gun but I don't think one would enjoy hunting with a gun in this style / balance. Moreover, this kind of gun can't be used effectively for wing shooting / waterfowl. Though you have mentioned that you are only interested in wild boar shooting but who knows tomorrow you may like to venture in other fields also. At that time your gun must support you. IHMO, a hatson escort with two barrels (18" SD and 28" hunting barrels) might be a better option to consider. Secondly, please do consult a few Akdal owners for a genuine first hand experience. Personally, I don't trust Akdal weapons and there are many options available in similar price range. Just my two cents.
best regards

I don't have much experience with shot guns but I would not like to use Akdal for hunting. I mean just the looks don't match the looks of a hunting gun. Its more of a SD/HD thing. But off course if it shoots to kill, can be used for any purpose.

for hunting consider a single or double or o/u longer barrel 24 and up, 28 is better.

IMO Akdal is good for nothing but a show piece, I actually was fall in love with this and after veterans opinions and research I back off.

After reading these posts in the forum, i had to look for an akdal and try it out myself. So let me apologize for not being able to answer in this forum for a while. It did take me some time to get hold of one and shoot some slugs with it.

I think you guys are right. Akdal could work well for sd, but wont work that well for all purpose hunting. I am currently considering the hatsan option as mentioned by KWB. Havent yet made up my mind though. But let's hope for the best :D

Thank you all very much for your time and input. Much appreciated. :)
