I thought it would, same as my 18.5 Barrel. I also have a 20" with a ACCU choke tubes and a Vent rib. A 28" Modified choke, And a 28" with ACCU choke tubes and a vent rib. But I also have two Mossy 500s

According to the chart with a cylinder bore there is a 40 inch spread at 25 yards, beyond that there is no data available.

@ Furrukh There is no data because a 18.5 barrel with a Cylinder Bore is rarely used past that distance with Birdshot. You will be using slugs or Buckshot. But in theory. If the spread is 25" at 40 yards, then it is 50" at 80 Yards. But with a short Barrel , the Birdshot wont have much energy at 80 yards.

@ Larry,
I need to do some testing at my range with a buck shot to test the spread pattern at 25m and above.

@ Furrukh Just take several Mellons to the range, and place them at differant distances. That way tou are checking accuracy and Power at the same time. You will use LESS Ammo in your testing, So that woll offset the cost of the Mellons.
Or you can just use Plastic Bottles filled with water. But then you have to go out and pick up your trash. Mellons are Bio- degradable, and if left in the right spot, will attract Wild Boar. Hmmm More shooting ?

Very useful information has come out on this thread. I wish to add a bit from my experience; the shot string has three dimensions, it spreads in a near circular pattern as well as in a linear pattern. When tighter chokes are used the string tends to be longer, this has no effect on static targets but on flying birds specially the ones crossing at right angles chances of hitting a bird with enough number of shots diminish.
A tighter choke often results in a pattern where there are gaps in the pattern and shot bunches to gather at other places, there is a relation between bore diameter and the choke being used, these days Back boring is more common in which the bore diameter is slightly over size and it reduces recoil and gives more even spreads of shot in patterns.
I have tried various chokes with different numbers of shots and found some barrels shoot even number shot better and some odd numbers; by better I mean an even spread of shot in the pattern which I find more important although some times it is related to shot quality as well.
Tighter chokes also distort more shot than lighter chokes how ever on high flying small birds like The Chinese Dove I still cling to full chokes, but on Geese and Mallards I am contend with Modified or Improved Modified chokes.
