So I was asked to write a review on something 'unique'. Something from my collection which is not commonly available nowadays. After dilly dallying for a month I was finally cornered and had to complete this and post it. These guys don't leave you once you commit to something. Listen.... I chose the HK300 .22 Magnum Semi-Auto from my long guns to write a review on because I thought that both Pakistani and our foreign members would be interested in learning about this extremely effective, high-quality, well-made, accurate piece of history which has been out of production for some 20-25 years now.



It is a standard format hunting rifle which is quite popular in Canada and Europe. It's trigger pull is light, has a Monte Carlo stock, has an integral scope mount as well as iron sights.

It is a .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire rifle which was introduced in 1978. It has fine-quality walnut stock with hog’s back comb and squared cheek-piece. It has checkering on the pistol grip wrist and fore-end. It is also equipped with sling swivels.

The initial model was redesigned slightly and this one's serial number began from 15,000 and onwards, due to this some parts are not interchangeable for early vs. late models based on that serial number change. You'll find several HK 300's available online on various auction sites. In good condition, they sell for about $900, and if New-In-Box/unfired (which are very rare to find), about $1,500. The magazines, if in good condition, can be purchased online for about $65 for 5-rounders and around $150 for 15-rounders.



It is very well made, beautiful to look at, and functions extremely well with all sorts of .22WMR ammo. As you will see below, it is very accurate, and is a wonderful gun to use for predators and small game even upto 200M, and it's even good for wild boars (hogs) provided you take head shots.



After HK300 came the models 700 and 700DL which are are also nice weapons, also not being produced any longer (since mid 80's). The 700s have a larger and heavier feel and look to them, compared to HK300, and feel more like a 30-06 or other large caliber rifle.



Like they say, you cannot go wrong with the HK 300, as long as it is kept and maintained in good condition.



On the reliability front, IMO and based on my use of it during last few years, it is very reliable and very accurate. The only malfunctions I ever experienced using it was due to old / faulty ammo.

i have a .22lr version of this gun the hk270 am very satisfied and hppy with it thanks to ghazi ,sir has taught me a lot and also helped me get quality weapons
