Heard from a friend about some new Rule / Notification which recently came out in Punjab, restricting the max number of licenses / person to five. Also heard that all rifle calibers other than 7mm bolt action and .22lr have been declared as PB in Punjab!

Is this information correct? What about those who already have more than 5 licenses? What about those who already have .308s on NPB licenses?

But we all will be together at least,

I wish they lock us in cells by caliber size.

Thanks MJ for sharing the source document.

I believe this limit (of 5 licenses) will be applicable prospectively and nor retrospectively, meaning that those who already have more than 5 licenses will not be effected however those who are applying for a new license, cannot have one more, if they already have reached/crossed the limit.

But then that's my interpretation. We need clarification from GOP.

Has anyone contacted the respective ministry/department for some direct feedback?

This is simple idiotic!

Now even after this notification every dealer in Punjab & DCO offices are still unaware of it's existence.

How can government do that when they don't even have a policy of issuing new licenses and not issuing any.

Now how would they implement this notification without stating any policy about numbers of licenses issued from a single district, their calibers & weapons a person already holds?

What if someone has more than 5 licenses & most of the weapons are already registered as bolt action OR semiautomatic rifles other than .22 & obsolete 7mm?

How would they re-validate old book/copy licenses?

I believe the dealers and some influential gun enthusiasts will have to go to court to get this nullified. Atleast a stay order would be taken against it. Well, it better be. This is a ridiculous policy.
In the meanwhile, prices of rifles, CQA semi auto, and bolt actions, might take a nice strong hit, temporarily though.

I request that this is the time to get united against such idiotic patwari frameworks. Very unfortunately this policy applies only on law abiding citizens. Those who give damn to the wothless booklets will never be brought to justice.

PLEASE IF IT IS POSSIBLE LETS GET UNITED AND GO TO THE COURT. SHARE THE EXPENSES, I AM SURE WE CAN FIND SOME GUN LOVING LAWYERS , LETS FILE A SUIT IN THE SUPREME COURT FOR A STAY ORDER AND SANER APPLICATION OF LAW.

I agree with Mustanir's suggestion. This is simply idiotic and done without any deliberate consideration. Something needs to be done....
