I would like to share confirmed information about the re-validation process of Sindh Arms licenses.

Based on information received from PA to ADC of [information deleted], the detailed SOP being followed is as follows:

1) We submit our forms at the concerned DCO Office and the DCO Office completes its noting;

2) DCO Office sorts these forms according to issuance date of license and sends lists (each containing 500 names) thereof to the concerned SSPs;

3) The concerned SSP marks it to onwards to the concerned DSPs and SHOs for verification at respective Police Station levels;

4) Each SHO verifies and checks regarding existence of and nature of any criminal record of the licensee, in his records and then returns details back to the SSP;

5) Thereafter, the SSPs mark the same list to CPLC for verification at divisional level for verification and then returns the same along with their observations, if any;

6) The respective SSPs now return the lists back to the DCO Office along with observations/remarks, if any, against each of the licensees in the lists;

7) Those names (licensees) against which there were no remarks/observations received from either the respective SHO and CPLC, are then forwarded by DCO Office to Home Department for approval;

8) Home Department approves the names (licensees) and forwards the approved names list to NADRA;

9) NADRA then initiates the process of issuing validated license to each of the licensees.

It should be noted that in case the licensee is a Government Servant, the process of verification at Police Station level and CPLC level is not being carried out and the forms are being forwarded directly to the Home Department.

Thanks 917 for sharing the above details with us.

I am personally of the view that this is a very good step and will help improve our "system".

During the last couple of years, Sindh Police has arrested numerous criminals carrying licensed 9mms. CF98 seemed to be their favourite. During random checking, these criminals used to get away because they had a license as well as section 144 permit with them when weapon was found on their person. However, it was after several "caught red-handed" episodes that the police realised that these criminals have started using licensed firearms during snatching, kidnapping and dacoities. Ofcourse, lack of proper forensic facilities in our Police department makes it all the more convenient for BGs to use licensed firearms because they know the shell or recovered bullet will not be traced back to their particular firearm.

Despite the "khuaari factor" (inconvenience involved), we should support the government and play our due part by getting our licenses verified and re-issued. The cost we will incur on this today will not only help us, but the whole Nation as well as our LEAs to root out criminals from our midst.

I have heard that the Home sec sindh has announced that all weapons licenses that were not verified in the stipulated time period have been cancelled and the people are directed to surrender their weapons to their respective Police Stations.

Has any one been watching the news lately.

My dealer has confirmed that both Home Department and DC offices have stopped accepting new cases for computerization. If this the case what will happen to huge number of licences not presented for same. Have heard some 200K are submitted and around 600K are not yet presented for the process.

I talked to some one at the DC office East. They said that while fresh tokens are not being accepted in a few days the same might be expected.. Wiht late fees charges..

And of course the usual .. license-might-be-reopening-soon.

I have long since stopped believing such rumours.
