Now this is really disturbing, especially for the people who are currently not in Pakistan. Ah well, I guess more money for the dealers, some old song, just a different tune. :violin:

Peace to be maintained in Karachi at all costs: Malik

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday said the government was taking all possible measures to maintain law and order in Karachi.
The minister said that arms licences issued by the Nadra (National Database Registration Authority) would be considered valid after September 31.
“All arms licences issued by the Ministry of Interior will stand cancelled with effect from November 1, 2011,” he said and advised the arms licence holders to approach the nearest Nadra office for issuance of new ones.
He warned of strict action, including seven to 14 years imprisonment, against the holders of illegal weapons and fake licences. The interior minister said that a large scale campaign would be launched for the recovery of illegal arms after September 31. He announced cash rewards for those giving information about illegal arms, adding Rs20,000 would be given for providing information about illegal Klashnikovs (AK-47) and Rs50,000 for providing information leading to recovery of LMG or rocket launchers. He said that name of informers would be kept secret.

Unfortunately, here, we're still in a system where they keep voting themselves in until they are shot/blown out for good.

This is alarming news. I know numerous people who got their licenses made through authorized dealers and most of them did not check whether the supporting documents exist or not. They just relied on the dealer.

My dealers used to be Ali Mohammad and sons. They sold their shop and business. I have absolutely no idea who they used to make mine... Now even if I allow my licence to be cancelled and if it was illigal I would still be a criminal!

I think the provincial license owners should not worry now because its for MOI.What if the wapon is not registered in Local Police Station(Thana) ? Do they take that weapon with them also ? And what I have a license on which there is no weapon and purchase date is also finished. Is that license invalid now ?

Weapon must be registered in PS. 99% of the time, weapon presence is not required at PS.
Provincial Lic with expired purchase date is still valid.

Assalamo alaikum

Me and my bro went to nadra office yesterday for the conversion application and it was submitted easily, 10mins for each application and 20 mins for the line before us.
Following are the steps, only MOI license holders need to do this:
1. Take your original MOI license to nadra office and they will give you a blank form.
2. Copy this form, and now fill out 2 forms with black ink.
3. All the info is in your license, and you have problems with filling any part, leave it and nadra people will help you fill it.
4. Attach copies of NIC and MOI license with each form, 1 pic for each form and one pic extra, 3 pics total needed (all 1”x1”).
5. DCO and police station entry is must before you do this.
6. Take filled forms to nadra office, they will enter your details, give you a printout, stamp your license, and will put extra form and printout in your license and they will charge you rs.600.
7. Now wait for the nadra issued license, which may take months to come.
They are entering only 1 year validity in their system regardless of how long your license is valid as they say that is the only option available now.

Just one question:

is the police station entry "mandatory", i had spoken to some police officers and they had said that legally it had to be registered at the DCO office, but the police station entry was not mandatory and usually always a problem whenever there were cases of ariel firings and the police would arrive at your house to inquire if you fired it...

Would appreciate some clarification on this... thanks

Police station entry is must by law in Sindh province.
