I just heard the news on local channel that All old arms license will be cancelled after 31 August, only License issued by NADRA will be accepted as legal.

Please discuss what should be done to save our books, if someone know the process of conversion from old book to NADRA, please discuss.

With the number of old licenses issued, this is next to impossible in terms of practicality! At the same time, it is also very very scary..

Not practical. Many lawyers and Judges will be affected too. They'll get a stay order in no time. Chill guys

I wish that we may be able to create a team of writers to get admin scrutinized articles to be published in newspapers to help evolve sane and practicable legislations. Friends this is happening all over the world lets talk on it.

According to that idiot interior asswipe u need get ur licenses converted to nadra issued licenses,
and i would bet u when u will approch nadra office they wouldn't know about the new poilcy till first of sept.

@MR, I share the same feelings but brother the shame is that those who are sane and educated don't talk, every one out there is not as dumb as......., I hope you know that Mr. Raza Hiraj, MNA and Mr. Faisal Saleh Hayat MNA foiled a very diabolic attempt of Trade and Commerce ministry to cancel all trading licenses of arms dealers, which might have created a deadlock.
So please don't get frustrated "the fault my dear is not in our stars, but in the feeble endeavors we make to change our fate".

So what about peoples who are residing outside Pakistan and will be back not before few months.I dont know what to do now with my licenses.

Friends, we have very similar situations in the US and Europe. Unfortunately for us in the shooting community, we are a small minority of voters and politicians tend to get big cheers when they introduce new gun laws...no matter how foolish and ineffective they might be.
Is there a large pro-gun voter organization in Pakistan? In the US we have the NRA, National Rifle Association. It is not loved by all shooters and gun people, but it is a large and effective group that does work to try and protect our shooting and gun-owning rights.

Agreed, big well organized and funded organizations such as NRA, Gun Owners of America and the Second Amendment Foundation really keep our world straight, plus the fact that the individual states have been moving back to recognizing the right to armed self defense starting about 35 years ago in Florida to the point that we have 4 states now that recognize the right to carry concealed or openly with no permits required. I wish you guys the best, and hope that it does get stayed until someone can get someone with a modicum of intelligence and common sense, (often almost illegal in government), can get the situation under control.

unfortunately not at this point. Next elections are not due before early 2013.

I have no issue with getting a card license from nadra but 31 aug?! You got to be kidding that's like only 3 weeks and quite some numbers of licenses to issue! May be the minister was trying to say 31 aug 2012 but got it wrong when delivering his speech!

Its only the islamabad liceneses. All license holder having provincial liceneses need not worry about it.

Here people are saying that this statement relates to Karachi only, even then there is little sense in it.
NADRA has no intimation of any measures regarding converting manual licenses into machine readable cards.

Well, below is summary of possible outcomes of the subject statement, based on my discussions and opinions of others:

1. Only MOI (ministry of interior, all Pakistan) licenses to be cancelled
2. Both MOI and provincial licenses to be cancelled
3. Licenses of Karachi city only to be cancelled
4. Only prohibited bore (select fire or big bore auto rifles etc) licenses to be cancelled
5. All of the above
6. None of the above

We'll continue to get extensions. Too many Lic to process. Oddly enough the notification is not out as yet to this effect.

Today talked to chairman NADRA's staff,,, I was told that chairman was also surprised at the TV news, contacted THE WISE GUY, who in return told nothing to worry about.
Remember the MOI scam,, this is basically to get the serial nos corrected,, AND THIS NEWS ONLY RELATES TO THE M.O.I.
