Hi members,
I was just wondering who owns revolver as SD and which is a budget revolver for SD in .357.i heard there are many Tauruses in the market.
and how is Taurus judge and whats its price and can we get ammo easily for the judge or not ?heard there is a poly version of judge which is light weight.
Regards,

A Taurus .357 with a 4" barrel makes a nice SD/HD and even a Casual range gun The 2" and 3" are better for consealment, but the Muzzle blast is Herendous, and the Kick takes away from being managable for range casual shooting.
I dont think they make the Judge series in PLASTIC. And I think you will have a hard time finding either 45 Long Colt or .410 ammo for it. Besides it is a " BEAST " and is kind of bulky for comfortable consealment.

I myself want to know about the Taurus Judge Revolver.. not the polymer version but the regular steel version.. I have a Taurus Tracker .357 Magnum Revolver with 6" non ported barrel and adjustable rear sights, but its good for range only not for carry.

@ Aquarius I think they are a great Range Toy, and Very powerfull for SG/HD . But Can YOU get the ammo for it where you are , to make the purchase feasable. It doesnt do any good to buy the Most Powerfull gun , if you cant shoot it on a regular Basis.

If finding Ammo is difficult then there is no need to buy this beast, but if Ammo availability is easy then there is no harm to keep this beast..

You would find various brands, including mil surplus ammo, ranging from Rs 50-150 a pop. In other revolver calibers, .357 Mag is available in abundance though the price is a little high, ie, from Rs 70-150 per round. .44 Mag is quite expensive and starts at Rs 150 a round. However, I would rate .44 Mag more of a hunting round than a SD round. I would also like to know more about your Iver Johnson revolver. regards

Ah alas it isnt sir. The .38 special is common enough but the .38 "purana wala as local dealers put it" isnt[my fav is the heavier .380].....Its a lovely ivory and nickel finish model[the owls head model I guess] witha five shot cylinder...its a hammerless safety gun with a top break and star ejection system. It belonged to my great grandfather.

That it is but its generally very difficult to procure said military surplus ammo[especially the ones that have been properly stored] and the prices here are like 250 PKR per round[which is horrendous] for Fiochi made .380 revolver ammo...I love the .38 familly its an awesome piece of history that has survived the age of the automatic pistol...at least uptill now....my goal is to buy a taurus .357 magnum with 4 inch or 6 inch barrel....by the way how do I gather info regarding ammo availability in lahore[i.e where should I post it] Will try to post pics of the piece ASAP..... And thanks fellas for such a warm welcome.

@Sturmgewehr I understand your frustration regarding low availability and prices of .380 S&W. This is not a common caliber nowadays hence not much of new ammo available. However, I have seen quite a few dealers who have stocks of old ammo available with them. It included both military surplus as well as factory ammo. Just let me check up from a few places and I will get back to you if I find it somewhere in reasonable price. Please post your purchase related queries in the marketing section. I would also request you to update your location. regards

@Sturmgewehr, You have one of the revolvers that we over here call the " Suicide Specials " Please post pictures of yours if you can. I am trying to get mine posted for all to see also, now that I have restored them to firing condition.

.357 has quite a kick so follow up shots are slow as compared to 9mm

Imo, the words Revolver and .357 Mag should be synonyms.
I'm not an expert with ballistics, but I'd daringly venture out on a presumption that there may be more, instant gas leakage from a revolver than if same caliber fired from a pistol, due to the difference in design & structure between these two types of firearms. There's more internal "combustion" -if I may so call it - in a pistol than in a revolver. I've always believed in heavy calibers with revolvers. No .32 S&W, .22, etc's. With revolvers, talk Dirty Harry only, means long barrel, heavy boom.
Regards.
