I have twin pairs of canik55
one is C100 and other is Shark C

I always carry C100 because i love most and the Shark C is kept in my drawer from a long time,
few days back I WAS SHOCKED due to rust on my Shark C

This was a new Gun, bought in April 2011 for the price of Rs. 48000/- and only fired 5 or 6 magazine.

and i know why this happened....... :)

Don’t remember the exact date and day, but it was a day of September 2011

I was on the way of my home (carrying the shark c with me in my pant holster) and suddenly VERY HEAVY RAIN starts, after half an hour a huge traffic jam on the roads and when it rains in Karachi the roads are full of water like ponds.

I had wait for 2 hours but Have no other options to reach home, park the car and starts walking in deep water and reach home in another 45 minutes.

Didn’t check the weapon thoroughly, just wipe the pistol with plain cloth and packed in plastic bag then locked in my drawer.

After 5 months day before yesterday when unpacked the pistol, I was shocked.

I M 100% SURE THE PISTOL WAS WET AT THAT TIME AND DUE TO LAZINESS OF CLEANING, THIS DAMAGE HAPPEN.

I have started the treatment, initially I had applied 2 times WD-40 for rust removing.

Then I again spent my two or three hours on Pistol Cleaning

This is disaster. brother you should have cleaned it bone dry, and oiled it. I think you left it in the drawer for too long. I just hope you clean it real good. wait for experts to advise you on the subject.

OK
The Big NO NO
If you gun gets wet,dry it off totally, then clean it properly, even with WD-40.
It is what we call a D.C.O.A.
(Dissassemble, Clean, Oil, and Assemble.)
Then you OIL it Again with a light gun or Machine OIL.
Wrap it in an Oiled Cloth for storage.
By putting it into a Plastic Bag, you just sealed in the Humidity, and it can cause more rust.
If you have to store your gun wrapped in Plastic to Prevent them from Getting wet again.
Then wrap them FIRST in an oiled cloth, and put it in the Plastic Bag that way.
WD-40 is a Solvent and does little for long term Protection against rust.
Use oil for that.

when sealing a gun in a plastic anything EVEN when HEAVY humidity is there... the ONLY solution is keep industrial strength DESSICANT packs available in market. It is silica gel hardened into granules. Cost is around 90 rs(1$ US) per BAG of 85 grams. big enough to fit on whole of palm.
I ALWAYS store my guns with dessicant in the bag/pouch or the drawer.
This is the necessary precaution as well as the LOVE for your gun.

@Canik. go on I.I.Chundrigar road till National bank; turn towards right in front of the Head office of national bank returning back towards saddar. There are many shops starting about 200 meters ahead. there is Honda Generator Whole seller on Left; the market there has this Dessicant bags available, you might though have to search the right one. There are many available, the BEST are the Industrial ones packed in cloth type hard paper/ tissue. They come out of industrial equipment and electronics boxes.

I always bone dry my gun after carrying through the day; with my one of the important tool in my inventory... Hair Dryer...
Then use a small patch tissue lightly dubbed with wd40 and last of all is couple of drops of sewing machine oil. Absolutely marvelous & does the work, then wrap in a cloth, spray wd40 (without the red tube tip) just enough to slightly dampen and then keep it in the drawer on TOP of a plastic bag. Every month on a Sunday clean all the guns and all it takes is just a few mins and I am done with all the work.

@ Canik, I would suggest you inspect your guns on a weekly basis and do little bit of cleaning regularly. The rust on your guns is because you let it be there for a very long time with no inspection. Guns NEED regular care and maintenance just like Women :)

Chinese bullets are fine, I was afraid of corrosive bullets. But the culprit seems to be the rain, and then you sealing it in a plastic bag (along with all the moisture inside!).

congratulations. Good to know that the rust was just superficial. If you could confirm that it is equally accurate, that would be a greater relief.

Yes the spring is made by twisting 2 wires.
I have 2 models of canik and the spring is same.
Dont know this typeoc spring isbetter or not but havent faced any problem with both guns.
