Hi all,
my brother is going to states in couple of months, need help from expert seniors regarding what important spares should i have in my inventory for my PT-99. What i have came to know on this forum is that its recoil spring has couple of thousand rounds life, so iam definitely asking him to bring me one. Anything else, need advice from members who have been using this weapon for quite some time & have faced problems... Thanks in advance................

Recoil spring should last about 7-8000 rounds. Having one spare is always a good idea.
Get a Spare locking lug, as it is recommended to change at 5,000 rounds, and usually gives up at 10,000 rounds in Taurus pt92 (depending on type of ammunition used). A beretta 92 locking lug (3rd Generation) should fit, and it is rated at 50,000 rounds, if I recall correctly. All this is also discussed in PT99 review by KBW sb, in this post and beyond:

Recoil spring is an expandable item in all handgun and should be changed after a certain round count. But where did you read this that it has to be changed after couple of thousand rounds? When I sold off my PT99 after shooting over 4500 rounds, the recoil spring was still ok and mind you, most of the rounds shot were POF2Z.

But as Saif said, its always handy to have a couple of extra recoil springs (may be of different strength), locking pieces, sear spring etc.

may be not & judging from the no. of rounds iam firing from it, i won't be needing to replace that spring or locking lug for at least 2 or 3 years. Still iam glad that i've brought up this discussion as now iam a little more wiser in ways of this bad bad world. :teasing-binkybaby:

@Raptor, it is always good to ask and learn, than to learn it the 'hard' way. I am sure many other members would also learn from this.

@ Raptor
I dont know how many rounds a recoil spting is good for, or if you will ever wear out your locking lugs.

BUT, IMO.
IF you can, and afford it, And you do intend on keeping the gun for a very long time.
Pick up the Spare parts you can, and the parts to UPGRADE your gun in the future.
IE, Sights ,Hammers, Triggers, different weight SPRING SETS.
You have a hard time getting any parts where you are, and you can always sell of some of the parts to others.
They also will BOOST the price of the gun if you EVER intend to sell it.
The New buyer will be assured that you have not worn out the critical parts , and want to sell the bun because it is , or WILL be defective in the near future.
