I recieved this book "The Total Outdoorsman" from my father as a gift. It looks like a great book and it has so many things about hunting, fishing, camping, survival etc.

front and back covers of the book. It is written by T Edward Nickens but there are articles from many other authors in it.

Contents of the book which cover most of things that a person would like to know during camping, survival, hunting and fishing.

I will let the pictures do the talking. :violin:

This is a wonderful gift from your dad.

If it's not inconvenient, can you please share item 37 with us (scanned image) "Choosing the right knife" :)

A wonderful gift indeed.
This can put you on the path to becoming an even better Hunter and Fisherman.
Heck, you can even move to the Rocky Mountains and be a Mountain man like Grizly Adams or Jim Bridger.
Those Skills are truely a lost Art.

I really like this book and I am happy that Zain liked it too. And I agree with zain that chapters on survival and camping are very educative. It's not a detailed research work by any means but it includes brief tutorials about almost everything that one might need. On top of it, it is full of pics which makes it easily understandable.

I am sure Atiqmassan, isk and others would love to have such a book. I wonder if it's available in Pakistan

Here are few pics from the knife section. This book has some information about everything. Basically the chapter is about survival and camping and within that chapter we have information about knives also.

Mythbuster, this book is not available but a similar alternate is available i.e. SAS survival handbook which is small enough to be carried in POCKET and was designed to be kept in survival pack. it also has a iphone application.

However this seems like a better book from learning point of view, really loved the index portion; it can be ordered from the paramount books or from other branded book importers.. i remember the one just besides BBQ Tonight in karachi does that.

Both the books look very nice to me and I think it's a very good buy. :text-bravo:
Do they carry coloured pictures because pictures make the understanding very easy.

The inside is in black & white with sketch-based illustrations and relatively more detailed illustrations than the books posted earlier above.

Don't know. But I've experienced that if one takes out the time and looks around in these bazaars, there are a lot of useful books being sold at through-away prices.

It was 500 because I got it from Sunday Nazar from a guy who set its price based on how much it weighed. Has I bought it from Liberty Books. I might have paid 3,000 at the least.

I has been a really long time since went to wilderness and spent a night out but still memories give me the peace that it deserves. It may seem odd to some members but a man when left in wilderness begets his true nature. If it is possible can we start a thread on wilderness treks and our experiences and possibly share our life's worth??
