I need suggestions, and availability, of backpacks capable of 3 days of storage of essentials on a hiking/camping trip and double up as a bug out bag.

Hehe. Have some plans for end of the year. But realized it is always good to have a couple of good backpacks.

You would need a fairly large size backpack. From where do you intend buying?

If the new Sunday bazaar has started you should be able to find it over there. Not sure about new ones though. Saddlers is selling some Chinese stuff which is a copy of the US Mil version

Try this, most of these are for laptops.

But maybe you will need a rucksack or hiking bag.

Please look for page "Tactical Gear For Soldiers" on facebook. They have put 20% off on the backpaks.
BTW if you are going not then you will definately pass through Peshawar and you can find one their of your choice from there.

I bought one from Hayatabad which has enough room for 3 days essentials in PKR 3500.

Why don't you check light house i.e. our famous lunda bazar. You will find luggage dealers there, though most of it is used stuff but with luck you can find one in good condition. I have bought from there in the past, in fact i still have one Giordano shoulder bag with me which i bought for just Rs. 150 about 8 or 9 years back & it is still in very good condition. The only cache is that Pathans in there have also learned the art of mixing Chinese copies with the original ones. But if you have an eye for these sort of things you can easily differentiate. Secondly you should have extensive bargaining skills, if you can do that you can easily buy a branded item for nearly half the price of their original demand. Thirdly you should know where to go. Assuming that you know the real lunda bazar, when you enter the original market that is the lane where you can find almost everything related to clothing. Keep walking, eventually you will come to a very crowded street that is bisecting the bazar in half. You will see another lane exactly opposite the one that you have came from. Enter that lane & immediately you will start noticing small shops on your left that are selling luggage items. Though you can occasionally find good items there also but these shops are mostly of small time traders that buy from the dealers. The good stuff you will find in the buildings on your right. I don't remember exactly but i believe its the 3rd or fourth entrance on you right. When you go through the entrance there are shops on both sides. Try to check every shop but in my experience the guys near the end have better stuff & are easy to convince. I was there just a few days before Eid & i have seen backpacks of all sizes there. If something catches your eye check it thoroughly as those guys are also very good in patching damaged stuff. I think you will find a good branded backpack in about 2ooo to 3000 rupees, the kind you are looking for.

Happy Hunting.....
