Classic Potato Salad.
8 medium sized potatoes
354.88 ml Mayonnaise
29.58ml Cidar Vinigar
29.58ml Sugar
14.79ml yellow mustard
4.92ml salt
4.92 ml Garlic powder
2.46ml ground pepper
2 ribs of cellery Chopped
236.59ml Onion Chopped
5 Hard Boiled Eggs - Chopped or sliced
1 ml Paprica

Boil the potatoes with the skins on untill they are cooked all the way thru but still firm.
Let the potatoes cool , then peel and dice into squares about 12x 12 mm size
Place diced potatoes in a bowl.
In another bowl, mix the Mayonnaise , vinigar, sugar, and mustard.
Pour the mix over the potatoes, and toss untill the potatoes are coated alll over.
Add in the pepper, celery, Onions and chopped eggs.
Mix all together and sprinkle the top with paprica to taste and color accent.
Chill in a refrigerator for an hour.
Re mix before serving.

You can mix in other ingredients to suite your taste like diced pickles , shreaded carrots, olives, diced bell peppers or any thing you might like.
The ingredients are the basics, and can be adjusted to suite your liking, There are no RULES
If the potatoes are too dry to your liking, just mix in a little more Mayonnaise

Now when I make this salad, I like to add a diced Pickle, and instead of Vinigar, I use some Pickle juice.
Instead of Garlic powder, I also use Fresh finely chopped Garlic and some Parsley or Celantro or ground Corriander.

It is all a Matter of what you like, and what you have on hand.

Now I have to find you a recipe for Hot, and German Potato salad.
On the Net, there were 190 different potato salad Recipes.
They were almost all the same, but the ingredients varried somewhat , and the amounts.

Hay, Who started this Food Thread.
I think this was a great idea.

Thar recipe serves about 8 people, but you can cut the recipe in half if you dont want to make that much.
But if your tastes are like ours, you will be running back for more.

This dish is refered to as a Salad, but it is more of a Universal Side Dish.
It goes with almost any kind of food from Barbeque to Formal dining.
It is also a late night Comfort Food, or something to munch on when you are watching TV.
I have had potato salad made with Sour Cream instead of the Mayonnaise, and some people put grated or shreadded cheese in it.
One thing I like is that it is Cheap to make, it serves lots of people, and you can refrigerate any left overs for a couple of days. ( If You dont eat it all at once )

That's a nice recipe Larry. But the precision in preparation gives me a feeling of reloading instead of cooking.

I tried this recipe today.

5 medium sized potatoes, 3 eggs (boiled and chopped) .

One big sized onion (chopped)

Yogurt mixed with mayonnaise.

Salt and black pepper.

I poured the yogurt-mayonnaise mixture on chopped potatoes, eggs and onions. Added salt and black pepper. And it was ready. I tastes good after refrigeration.

@ Hamid.
Was this your own Recipe, or did you get it from somebody ?
This does qualify as a Potatoe Salad recipe, and sounds very tasty.
I will have to try it with the Yogurt sometime.

Well it looks like the competition is Started.
What do you say if you guys come up with some more Ideas, and maybe you can settle on an "Official Pakistani Potato Salad Recipe."

@Lags,
A family friend made that for us a couple of years ago. We liked it a lot. Liked it so much that we asked her for the recipe. We made is a couple of times. The fun part is we never asked her its name:D We thought its some German dish, why bother ourselves with remembering a difficult name:D

That is the way potato salad recipes go.
You give some to your guests, and they always will ask for the recipe.

I dont think I have ever had BAD potato salad, but some I liked a lot more than others.
But it goes with everything, and for every occassion.

@ KBW
I think if you add some doced Red Peppers to that recipe, then they can qualify for the Primers.
But I think what you will be ReLoading is your mouth, time and time again.

I had some spare time so made this Salad. It tastes good. I did some additions of my own to give it a different taste.

Image

Use a strainer to let go of the water.

Image

Place in a dish.

Image
Cut some onions.

Image
Added some lemon for taste.

Image
Some cabbage and eggs (Boiled)

Image
Mixed the vinegar, salt, pepper, sugar and Mayonnaise.

Image
Dinner is ready. Served with banana milk-shake.

It was tasty. I feel like a chef already. :)

I have had the Lemon Juice in it before, but not the Cabbage.
I like cabbage, and that brings us to another kind of Salad called "Cole Slaw " made with mostly Raw Cabbage.
I will find a recipe.

OK guys, Lets see some of your recipes, I want to start a trend.
