I worked at KFC for my first job back in High School.
I put in 2 1/2 years there, and my sister spent 5 years there.
I still have my Two Year Pin that they gave me.

I was on cooking the Chicken in the afternoon, and at night I made the Cole Slaw and the Rolls.
We didn't offer Potato salad at that time, but we did have Macaroni Salad.
That is another staple of Barbeques, Picnics and other large gatherings over here.

I was just on line reading an article the Huffington Post did on Potato Salad.
We have our Labor Day Holliday this weekend, and potato Salad is like one of the Major foods served at the gatherings.
I can not believe the number of comments people have posted about ther recipes, or the right way or the wrong ways to make it.
I told you guys, there could be a war started over this one food.
But they admitted, there is no Right Way, or Wrong way to make potato salad, but everyone has their own tastes and opinions.

I do hope that more of you try to make it sometime.

I had dinner half an hour back consisting of rice, yogurt and potato salad. We have it on our table almost daily.

It looks you guys have gone wonky for potato salad. I think I should give it a try too. Would taste nice with BBQ fish and prawns, no? :shifty:

Please try to make some , or where you are you can probably buy it in the grocery store.
On this side of the atlantic, we have grown lazy , and just buy things already prepaired.
But Home Made is way better, as you can make it for your taste.
It is an excellent choice to go with barbequed Fish or anything for that matter.

I agree Larry, home made will be far better. I have passed the instruction to the three young cooks, let's see what they come up with

If you get your sons making Potato salad, you will never have a problem with them finding a wife.

It could impress there wife, or she could impress her friends, by bragging about what a good husband she has.

@LAGS.............Howdy buddy?

Thanks for the recipe above.

Potato Salad and Roast Beef combo has always been a delicious favorite with me.

I just thought Creme Fraiche - which is not easily available over here - was a necessity. So nice to see the Mayo alone does it. Gotta try soon.

Regards.

@armoredman, it's mostly chicken in any form. We normally joke about it being our national bird. The poor thing is killed for a noble cause. Lol

The traditional Sunday Dinner down South is Fried Chicken after Church.
It feeds a lot, and everone likes it ,Plus it is cheap.
plus you are in good graces if you invite the preacher and his family.

And Yes, there will be Potato Salad served too.

Well.... depends on the occasion as well as the area. Goat / lamb meat is preferred followed by chicken and beaf, in various forms like BBQ, curries, mixed with vegetables in curries etc. On certain occasions, sweet dishes are a must. :)

This is a very tasty reciepe, but whenever i make it, i prefer using cream. I dont like the traditional mayonise we find in our markets and making one at home, means a very sore shoulder or a very long time cooking, i know electrical beaters make the task easy, but a mayo is always best beaten by hand. Do you make your own mayo Lags or does it come out of a jar??

One more thing, green peppers and white peppers go very well with potatoes. So while you guys are making this, try to crush some green, black and white peppers together. But before the crushing pop one of each in your mouth, so can make out the difference in taste and adjust the propotions according to taste.

I buy my Mayonaise in a Jar.
I have on occasion made it by hand, but that was mostly to try to impress someone else about my cooking skills.
See, a lot of women over here can only relate to things like Mayonaise that comes in a Jar, and have no idea how it is made or what it is made from.
Your Idea with the Peppers is an excellent one, and I prefer some chopped Green , Red Or Yellow Bell peppers in my salad that I make to serve to others.
It adds color to the dish, and like you said you can vary the amounts for different flavors.
But Personnally, I like the spicier peppers like the Jalipeno, or the New Mexico Hatch Chilis in what I cook for myself.
