Today was a rifle shooting day.

Shooter: Saif
Distance: 100yds
Rifle: Brno 308 (converted)
Ammunition: POF 7.62x51, 2007,
Sights: Leupold VX2, 3-9x40, set at 7x magnification
Group Size: 2"

Not bad in my view, considering my limited experience with rifles. However, I intend to achieve 1-1.25MOA accuracy with more regular shooting.

After rifle shooting, I had a bit of a quick pistol session before closing out the day. Shooting was not that bad, considering that I was not fresh any more, and the pistol still needs quite a bit of getting accustomed to.

Shooter: Saif
Handgun: CZ75B Compact
Distance: 25 Mtrs
Technique: Both Hands (right), unsupported, deliberate fire, standing
Ammo: Norinco 311 Red Box, 9mm
Score 25mtrs: I did not score, as this is not a standard precision shooting target, but the score must be around slightly over 170/200.
Group Size: Overall group is under 8". Nothing to write home about, but tells how much effort is required in getting the best out of this weapon.

Image

In the last group, 3 bullets went through the same hole. That was encouraging! The shooting improved with each group. The trigger pull is 5.25 lbs, which is more than twice of what I am used to, and with some creep, so I will need to spend more time with this weapon to get better results.

Impressive shooting. 1 in group with surplus ammo is excellent.

very good shooting. Aren't you going to do a trigger job on the CZ 75B?

Thank you HMR and SS.

I don't have immediate plans, but sometime in the near future I very well might play with the trigger of the compact!

Excellent shooting with the rifle. Very nice. :text-bravo:

As for trigger job on 75B Compact, IMHO it would be a wastage of time and effort to do a trigger job on a SD gun. Factory trigger is good enough for SD shooting in my view.

regards

@ Saif.
I have to agree with Brother KBW on the trigger job for a SD weapon.
Stay with Factory reliability, and save your expertise for your target guns.
A malfunctoin on the range, will not cost you your life, and a smooth trigger is of little concern in a gun battle.

None of my Carry guns have trigger work done to them.

@LAGS,

I agree. I will, however, polish the contacting faces a little to smooth out things.

The competition hammer that I have thought of installing, will still give a very poor trigger compared to tuned 1911s. It will still have creep, and camming of hammer before break, which makes it two stage sort of. I may not install it, though.

Finally, hit the range today, and was glad I could still shoot reasonable.

Shooter: Saif
Handgun: CZ75 SP01
Distance: 25 Mtrs
Technique: Both Hands (right), unsupported, deliberate fire, standing
Ammo: Norinco 311 Red Box, 9mm
Score 25mtrs: didn't count!

Function check, and first few rounds:

full 20 rounds:

It was more of a test out the weapon session combined with some get back into action thing. The weapon handled and functioned perfectly in the 90 rounds fired through it.
I did some single hand shooting with the SP01, just to get some shooting practice, but since 40 rounds were fired on one target, (by myself), it was not much use posting here. The major group was about 5" though (except 2 or 3 rounds), which was very encouraging. If I can squeeze another session or two in next 4 weeks, I could get back into the groove!

Oh, and guess what I came across at the range today? A CZ52! fired only 5 shots from 15mtrs, as I did not have ammo for the specific caliber (7.62 tok)

Shooter: Saif
Handgun: CZ52
Distance: 15 Mtrs
Technique: Both Hands (right), unsupported, deliberate fire, standing
Ammo: Norinco

The weapon shoots like a dream. Excellent trigger, no recoil whatsoever, just a must have. I have now started looking for one..

You've been out of loop for sometime. CZ52 looks tempting.

Very nice shooting. :text-bravo:

CZ 52 looks nice. Do you think the recoil was significantly less as compared to other 7.62x25 pistols?

I have always liked the CZ 52, but I prefer the 9mm version

HMR bro, I got lucky perhaps! I was not expecting it to be that good. But I stuck to the basics (trigger, breathing, front sight) and perhaps that helped.

He shoots well because he doesn't get into complications. He just does the basics right and that is what is needed in shooting. :)
