Groups - thats where I am worried and would like consistent smaller groups.

Brother, a consistent smaller group is an outcome to doing the basics right, every time and for that, you need regular practice, focusing on the basics. Good shooting is nothing but repeating the basic shooting skills correctly, every time :)

Priceless advice and very eloquently put. KBW Sb has simplified it for us but it takes supreme effort to practise it.

Trigger control and focus on front sight tip is most important. If one is doing these two things correctly, he can never go too much wrong.

Excellent shooting Wajeeh. As KBW has said, this is one of the best targets seen in some time.

It's hard to be so close on 25M target and to me these results are very close to perfection.

Keep on improving Wajeeh Bro.

WH,
brother what kind of a target is this BTW? If you use the 25 m standard pistol target, it would be easier to analyse the performance. :)

KBW - Its the preprinted versions available at Country Club. They are not the standard ones for sure!

It used to be available with every member of TGF in Karachi some time back and that was the target used for routine target practices :confusion-questionmarks:

@ KBW,

It's the same 25M Pistol Precision Shooting Target - same dimensions.

@ Naeem,

Wajeeh Hasan is one of the coaches :)

I don't think so. Given below is the proper Standard Pistol target. Please see the bull dimensions plus the black area which is up to ring 7.

You're right.

@ Furrukh,

You know what? This gives us the opportunity to get new ones printed with our logo in it :)

Went to ASCCL today for practice session for TGF-Karsaz Competition

First Target (zeroed gun at 6/7 6 O clock)
Distance: 25 m
CZ Shadow
Red Chinese ammo - 9mm
Score: 166/200

Image

Second Target (Score 167/200)

Third string in this session really hurt the overall score. Poor string especially the two fliers :(

Really have to improve scores next time. Target would be 180 atleast.

time.

This is good shooting. Do you have adjustable sights on your gun?

This is what makes shooting such a difficult sport. You have to do the things correctly every time and every shot is equally important. After shooting consecutive six bulls, if you shoot a flier in one, you are gone. So every shot is to be fired with same concentration. That is the key. If a shot goes astray, don't loose heart. Take a little break, a few long breaths and focus again. Stay normal and try to forget about the flier. Normally, we get so dejected and frustrated after shooting one flier that we end up shooting two more as we are unable to refocus.

Aim at shooting smaller groups. Good scores will automatically follow. If your gun is properly zeroed, a good group in most cases will mean a good score.

regards

Thank you KBW shb for your advices. Yes, the gun has adjustable sights and today I changed it to 6/7 junction. Hope it has been zeroed as SA advised on the range it looks good (zeroed).

The two fliers were consecutive ones and I couldn't figure it out how it happened. That really put me on back foot and down. Still angry with myself. And yes, tried focusing on basics at all times. I figured that surprise break is a MUST. Also, at times I was flinching (damn even now) and just stopped myself in breaking the shot.

One more thing it was a WINDY day so it was quite challenging and many times had to withdraw the gun.
